About Whip’s Farm
Whip’s Farm is a private historic 200-acre agricultural property that has been tied to family for generations. The farm is named after Sherman “Whip” Whipple whose grandfather, Sherman L. Whipple purchased the surrounding acreage from Eban Jordan of Jordan Marsh in 1910.
The farm has been thoughtfully restored and lovingly stewarded for decades by Nathan Withington, Whip’s brother. Guided by a deep respect for the land and its history, Nathan has dedicated his life’s work to preserving the farm as authentically as possible while ensuring its continued vitality. His enduring commitment to keeping the land in agriculture reflects a long‑standing dedication to sustainability.
The property features stall for 12 horses, indoor and outdoor working areas, and expansive open pastures used for both grazing and hay production. Together, these elements create a functional and thriving agricultural environment rooted in care, purpose, and respect for the farm’s origins.
Who We Are
Each of our three equine practitioners is certified through the HERD Institute and brings a unique professional background to their work, united by a shared passion for connection with the horse. Meg, Jen, and Sarah are lifelong equine professionals with years of hands‑on experience across diverse disciplines.
While each practitioner works independently within her area of expertise, they intentionally collaborate on select workshops, retreats, and professional development opportunities. This integrated approach allows participants to benefit from both individual specialization and the collective depth of knowledge, offering meaningful, well‑rounded experiential learning experiences.

I am completing my certification as an Equine Facilitated Psychotherapist through the HERD Institute.
Grounded in an integrative, evidence‑based framework, I focus on helping clients develop greater self‑awareness, curiosity, and compassion as they explore their inner world and relational patterns. My clinical approach bridges mind and body, supporting nervous system regulation and meaningful, lasting change.
Horses have been a foundational influence in my life since childhood. I bring this lifelong connection into my professional work through Equine‑Facilitated Psychotherapy. At Whip’s Farm Wellness, I thoughtfully combine my clinical expertise with the healing potential of experiential and relational work—creating a unique therapeutic environment where growth, insight, and connection can unfold.

Heidi Cooley
Farm Manager
After riding as a child, Heidi came back to horses as a mom looking to work around her daughter’s school schedule. That was 28 years ago.
She has been a Massachusetts licensed riding instructor for the past 25 years. Heidi found her calling teaching Beginner Children and Adult Amateurs, returning to horses after hiatuses or scares. Heidi considers herself blessed to be the Barn Manager at Whip’s Farm, where horses live as horses are intended to live - in herds on pasture. Running the Whip’s Farm hay and horse operations has afforded her the opportunity to observe and learn equine behavior on a daily basis. Heidi firmly believes: “the outside of a horse is good for the inside of a human.”
