About Whip’s Farm
Whip’s Farm is a private historic 200-acre agricultural property that has been tied to family for generations. The farm is named after Sherman “Whip” Withington whose grandfather, Sherman L. Whipple purchased the surrounding acreage from Eban Jordan of Jordan Marsh in 1910.
The farm has been thoughtfully restored and lovingly stewarded for decades by Nathan Withington, Whip’s brother. Guided by a deep respect for the land and its history, Nathan has dedicated his life’s work to preserving the farm as authentically as possible while ensuring its continued vitality. His enduring commitment to keeping the land in agriculture reflects a long‑standing dedication to sustainability.
The property features stalls for 12 horses, indoor and outdoor working areas, and expansive open pastures used for both grazing and hay production. Together, these elements create a functional and thriving agricultural environment rooted in care, purpose, and respect for the farm’s origins.
Who We Are
Each of our three equine practitioners is certified through the HERD Institute and brings a unique professional background to their work, united by a shared passion for connection with the horse. Meg, Jen, and Sarah are lifelong equine professionals with years of hands‑on experience across diverse disciplines.
While each practitioner works independently within her area of expertise, they intentionally collaborate on select workshops, retreats, and professional development opportunities. This integrated approach allows participants to benefit from both individual specialization and the collective depth of knowledge, offering meaningful, well‑rounded experiential learning experiences.
Meet the Founder
Meghan Knight
MS, LMHC
I am a licensed mental health clinician specializing in relational, trauma‑informed care for adolescents and adults. As a fourth‑generation steward of Whip’s Farm, my work is deeply informed by a lifelong connection to the land and to horses. My training and specializations include complex trauma, ADHD, and Internal Family Systems (IFS), with additional certifications in Somatic Therapy and other parts‑based approaches. I am currently completing certification in Equine‑Facilitated Psychotherapy through the HERD Institute.
My approach is integrative and evidence‑based, supporting clients in developing greater self‑awareness, curiosity, and self‑compassion as they explore relational patterns and inner experiences. Mind‑body integration and nervous system regulation are central to the work, fostering meaningful and lasting change.
At Whip’s Farm Wellness, clinical expertise is thoughtfully combined with experiential, relational healing through Equine‑Facilitated Psychotherapy. This unique therapeutic environment offers space for connection, insight, and growth to unfold in an embodied and grounded way.

Farm Manager
-

Heidi Cooley
Heidi’s lifelong passion for horses began in childhood and came full circle when she returned to riding as a mother seeking a career that fit her daughter’s school schedule—nearly three decades ago.
A Massachusetts‑licensed riding instructor for over 25 years, Heidi specializes in teaching beginner children and adult amateurs, particularly those returning to horses after a break or rebuilding confidence after setbacks. This work has become her true calling.
Heidi is honored to serve as Barn Manager at Whip’s Farm, where horses are cared for in a way that honors their natural needs—living in herds and thriving on pasture. Managing Whip’s Farm’s horse and hay operations has given her the rare opportunity to observe equine behavior daily, deepening her understanding of the horse both as an athlete and as a social being. Heidi firmly believes in the timeless truth that “the outside of a horse is good for the inside of a human.”
